LOSS OF POWER
As American lives become increasingly dependent on energy production but red tape keeps the supply short, Texas builds an off-the-books power plant to stabilize its failing electrical grid. Washington only sees rebellion.
When federal agents seize the facility and arrest the governor behind it, former Army Ranger Chuck Kinkaid faces a choice: stand down with the government he once served, or fight for the community whose lives depend on the plant’s electricity.
Chuck restores power without taking lives—but the political crisis only deepens. When an electromagnetic pulse attack devastates Texas, he uncovers evidence that the disaster may not have been an accident.
Now carrying proof of a conspiracy reaching the Oval Office, Chuck must race to Washington before the truth is buried—and the country fractures beyond repair.
For readers who enjoy high-stakes political thrillers in the tradition of authors like Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn, LOSS OF POWER explores what happens when America’s political divisions collide with the country’s growing dependence on electricity.
Grounded in real-world constitutional conflict and modern infrastructure risk, the novel imagines how quickly institutional tensions can escalate when crisis erodes the boundaries between law, politics, and force.
Where the story comes from…
My legal career has focused on disputes involving government authority, institutional conflict, and the complex incentives that shape public decision-making. I have advised energy and manufacturing companies and litigated over regulations from the U.S. Department of Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Energy, among others.
LOSS OF POWER imagines what might happen if those tensions moved beyond courtrooms and into a national crisis. The novel combines real-world legal dynamics with modern infrastructure vulnerabilities—including the electrical grid systems that quietly sustain everyday life.
